Etchells Worlds 2013

Well, the worlds are over and the boats are all back on their trailers returning to their home ports in England, Ireland, Italy, France, New Zealand, Australia, and the USA.

Looking back now, we definitely enjoyed the event, despite our challenges along the way.  Getting black flagged early on was disappointing and put our initial goals for the event out of range. But, with the help of a combination of good luck and some good decisions we finished strong and that certainly helped.

I had initially hoped to finish above mid fleet. We missed that. But, had the black flag been simply an OCS, we would have finished 20th just above the fold.

Ultimately, I will remember the event for the very nice sailing conditions, and for the new friends made during the event. Especially the crew and family of "Rapscallion" from Brisbane, Australia.

Many, many thanks to Kjeld and Diane Hestehave for the opportunity to sail in the event and for their hospitality and company during the regatta!!
